Put Your Website to Work
Posted on March 21, 2007 - Filed Under General |
I just had a post to building and marketing a website. Having done that work, you need to let your website work for you. I had a call yesterday from a woman who wanted to know more about me. She wants to meet to make sure it’s a good match. I didn’t give her my website address and realized belatedly that I should have done that. It can answer some general questions about who I am and my training.
I had another call at my home yesterday. It was from a place that sold vinyl windows. My fiance had asked for some quotes about a year ago from a number of places. They’re just calling us now? Do they really think that we waited that long? If you have an email or form for questions, be sure to respond in a bit more timely manner if you want your website to be useful. I like to see a response in 24 hours, unless it’s not during business hours. If it’s over a weekend or a day off, then 24 hours from the time you would normally be working is appropriate.
If you are on vacation and there will be a delay in responding, a business email should always have an autoresponder that sends out a note saying when you will be back in the office. There are some good, free autoresponders online. If you aren’t what an autoresponder is or how to find a good one, check this out this article on sitewizard.
