Grow Your Acupuncture Practice

Seminars can be great for practice building. Unfortunately they cost money and it’s hard to determine if that money is well spent.

There’s a website online advertising how you can grow your acupuncture practice. It is a program that looks like a seminar followed by one-on-one mentoring. The ideas behind it aren’t bad. However the last date on their site is 2005 and the next seminar is listed as “coming soon.”

I have to mention them because they show some nice steps in the curriculum overview area. First we have to have a goal. Then we have to decide to devote our time and energy into creating those goals for our business. We have to believe we can do it. They then discuss the idea of determining who your target market or niche is–while we’d like to think we can be all things to everyone, really we can’t. What are you passionate about? I always ask chiropractors this question as I go into their offices to introduce myself and so many of them have no idea. It’s rare when one says unequivically, I love to do necks or I love to work with kids. So focus on what you love.

Finally they offer a mentoring program. I’ve never had a mentor but I have done some related personal coaching and I think this can be wonderful, particularly for those who feel they’ve tried it all and are stuck. Sometimes a coach can hear what you are trying to do and then see what you are actually doing and point out where you might be sabotaging yourself. We’re smart, remember, so those little ways we sabotage ourselves are often pretty minor and very hidden.

I’ve not gone through this program so I can’t give any recommendations, however their ideas are potentially a place to start. If anyone has gone through this program, I would love to hear from you.
