Focus Your Practice

Knowing who are and what you can do is invaluable. I’ve been busy with things outside my acupuncture practice but lately this lesson has come home. I run this blog and website about acupuncture. I don’t get a lot of traffic, but the traffic I do get is typically fairly responsive. My pageviews to unique visits are good overall. I get very targeted traffic to this blog. If I don’t write daily, I still get reasonable traffic. I suspect it’s because I’m writing very personally and specifically to those who have small, single person businesses, like acupuncturists.
On the other hand, I have a site with a blog devoted to Siamese cats. I put a lot of effort into this site. It gets only a little more traffic than this one does but I work on it all the time. I write articles. I have used adwords. I write in the blog daily. There are a lot of people out there with sites devoted to cats and to Siamese cats in particular. There are also a lot of cat blogs. I struggle to find my niche there. I also struggle to find my readers.
My point of these examples is that if you have a focus and you are offering something of value within that focus, people will find you naturally. I do very little article writing and very little to get links to this blog. People do find me, almost as often as they find me when they are looking for Siamese cats. I know exactly what I am offering here. I am struggling with the other site.
As I look at my business, I realize that right now I am doing a little bit of a struggle in how I want to focus my acupuncture business even further. I want to distinguish myself. I want to be different. I want to attract my niche. I am struggling with that a little as I am being pulled in a couple of different directions. I know that when I find that niche, I’ll have those reliable patients and referals from that area but I need to find that exact niche. The marketing will be nearly effortless. Won’t that be nice?!

I know I had a comment on here. It did not seem appropriate to the article discussion of FOCUSING your practice. I do read the blog it was linked to. The discussion on that particular post was about a particular marketing ITEM.
I’m not sure it’s something I want to recommend to my readers. I have considered it, but will not do so via spam
