Expanding My Practice

I keep thinking about how Lynn Grodski discusses offering a menu of services. My current offerings are limited. I do acupuncture treatments at a standard fee and then offer acupressure treatments. I have been thinking about offering a maintance group treatment session one afternoon a week for a lower cost but I’m not quite sure how to work that offering out.
The last few weeks I’ve gotten a lot of calls from people looking for someone who does Chinese Herbal Medicine. I was trained in school in herbal medicines and I have a great deal of confidence in my teachers and even in my own abilities, though that’s not been an area that I’ve chosen to focus. I have a lot of respect for herbal medicine.
Recently, these calls have led me to believe that I need to start incorporating Chinese herbs into my practice. I’m working on setting up a slightly different pricing structure to do just herbal consultations. Because it takes less of my time, (patients are not in the office as long), I can offer a lower cost consult and plus the cost of herbs. As I expand this area of practice, when I need to start making up a formula, I can have a base rate and then a per herb cost for my clients. This should cover the time it takes me to mix up a formula as well.
My acupuncture clients will currently have the herbal consult as part of their session so they don’t have to ask for just that side of the practice.
