Do You Take Yourself Seriously
Posted on May 20, 2007 - Filed Under General |
Sapphire over at the Affiliate Marketing Journal had a post that made me think last week. She talked about suddenly deciding that she wasn’t just trying something but was, indeed, a webmaster.
It made me think about how I do that. Certainly I do it all the time as a webmaster. I am always trying things online. How would my focus change if I were serious about making money online? I might not try things just to see if they worked so much. I’d probably do a lot more research to get the most bang for my buck.
How do I do that as an acupuncturist? How do we all do that as providers? Do we take patients after our set hours? Do we let ourselves charge less for our services than we know we are worth? Do we keep taking appointments from the person who constantly forgets to cancel an appointment they are not going to show up for?
We need to start marketing our businesses from a place of power. That means that if we say we don’t take appointments at a certain time, we don’t let that new patient make us feel like we must. Certainly there are always exceptions but how many times have we known we would hate ourselves for giving in? If we are in a place of power, we make those exceptions when we know it’s someone we have a real need to help. A place of power means articulating a cancellation/no show policy and sticking to it. A place of power is researching the advertising that works best for us and doing more of what works rather than scattering our energies.
Check out Sapphire’s post and think about how that applies to us as acupuncturists.

Interesting! I hadn’t thought about applying this to other professions, but I’m certainly applying it in other areas of my own life.
I hope you get some discussion here.
Thanks for the visit, Sapphire! I don’t get a lot of discussion but I have gotten some feedback that people actually ARE reading!
