Creating a Good Tagline

A friend of mine is building a website for acupuncturists just starting their business. She has a page about choosing a name for your acupuncture business. She uses their example of having a catchy name that doesn’t have acupuncture or wellness or healing in the name. She talks about how much easier it would be if they had named their business with acupuncture or health care in the title. Then they wouldn’t have to explain what it is they did all the time.
This is where having a catchy tagline comes in. Another friend used her acupuncture business name, which included the word “acupuncture” and then the phrase “safe, gentle, effective, natural medicine.” This was a great tag phrase because it soothes fears that acupuncture might hurt or that it can be practiced by anyone and that it’s effective. Natural medicine is a final draw.
However, if you don’t have acupuncture in your name, then how do you say what you do? Perhaps your tagline is “Acupuncture for a Healthier You,” or “Your Choice for Acupuncture.” How about “Gentle Acupuncture for the Family.” More general? How about “Holistic Health for the Whole Family.”
Each tagline is short and to the point. I’m not a marketer so these are things that are off the top of my head. Thinking about your practice and think about the patients you want to see. Then think about the things you want to highlight about your practice. After all, if I don’t want to see children or younger kids maybe I won’t want a tagline like “Gentle Acupuncture for the Family.”
A tagline is a great way to introduce people to who you are. Even if you use Acupuncture in your clinic name, create a good tagline. That’s often the most memorable thing about your “name.”
